Just a quick update: Donnie was taking 15 mg of extended release morphine twice a day. He stopped taking that two days ago. He has had no breakthrough pain at all. Such an amazing praise . . . that after all the pain medication he has required over the past 4 months . . . that he is on NONE AT ALL!!! Of course, the drawback is the withdrawal from opiates. He is anxious and agitated, and has some meds to help with that, thankfully.
He has been walking 1.5-2 miles a day, especially with his Mom here, who takes him for walks in the mall. We are both so grateful that she comes over for half the week to be with him. It is uplifting for both of us!! #bestmotherinloveever!
Please keep praying that Donnie will be able to wean off his medications, and that his side effects will be minimal. Pray that he will continue to gain stamina, and continue to enjoy life. At this point, there is no other explanation for his improvement than God’s intervention, the great physician and healer. It’s really hard to explain any other way. Your fervent prayers have made all the difference!!!!

Since it is nurse’s week, I would like to honor one of the most amazing nurses I know: my husband! He has touched many lives in the ICU, helping patient’s and their families cope with difficult decisions, caring about them as people, and praying with them . . . all while whistling and singing!! He has found much meaning in his work, brings a positive “vibe” with him to work, and has thought of his friends at work as family. Happy nurse’s week to all the AMAZING nurses we know and love. You have a special calling. May God bless you all!!
Love, Donnie & Tina
