Going home today! Yay!!

Another wonderful victory . . . Donnie is going home today.  We just saw both of his docs, and he is being released to us 🙂  He is weak, but he is much, much better.  He has minimal pain (3 on a scale of 10), and is requiring no short-acting pain medications.  He has only gotten his nausea medication once in the past 3 days. He does have thrush in his mouth and throat, so that is uncomfortable, but getting meds to take care of that.

Donnie and Rodger Ready to go home!!!!
Donnie and Rodger, the “other” twin!!  Can’t wait to go home!!!!

Keep praying for him!!  Lots of family will be with him at our home today and tomorrow, so please no visitors today or tomorrow.  Everyone wants to see him and be with him while he is “himself “.  What a blessing for us all!!!

Donnie will have his second round of chemo as an outpatient on Wednesday.  He will go to the oncology clinic for 3 hours to start the chemo, then he will wear a pump for the rest of the chemo to infuse over 48 hours.  We have never had it as an outpatient, so pray that he will not have to be rehospitalized for intolerable symptoms.  All our experts here at the hospital say that the first chemo is the worst.  We are praying they are right!!

Thank you for all your prayers and support.  What would we do without all of you having intercessory prayer on our behalf!!!!!!  We are also especially thankful for the personal and professional support we get from Vanessa Warble Stavros and her “posse” on the oncology floor.  What a sweet blessing she has been to us both, for great nursing information, but more importantly, for her sweet loving spirit.  xoxo

OK, since my “update withdrawal” comment, Tina has sent out the  “Resting at Home” post.  I feel much better now 🙂

So glad to hear that Donnie is on his road to beating this terrible illness. As soon as I heard about the terrible news I found this blog and read the whole thing. I am so sad to hear that my Donnie is sick! I constantly think about the countless memories I had as a child coming to your house and playing pool games, jumping on the trampoline, and playing board games!  Those memories I will cherish for my lifetime! You and Donnie have been such positive role models in my life and made me want to be a nurse when I was younger cause I wanted to be just like you guys! Although that is not the career path I have now taken it still has lead me to the health field! I have Donnie, you, and your family in my prayers, praying for a painless recovery! I love you both very much!

Always thinking of you Donnie, it has become my morning ritual to wake up and check your blog to see how you are. So excited to hear you are home and doing a bit better. You are such a strong person and always so positive. We all miss your smile at work. Can’t wait to see you soon. Tina, thanks for all the updates! Let us know if you ever need anything.  Always praying for you all!

Happy to hear the good news that you’re home.  Praying for strength to get through tomorrow,  then the next day, then the next, day by day.

Tina, thank you for keeping us all up to date on Donnie’s progress. I know it cannot be easy with all that is on your plate right now, but it is VERY much appreciated.

We will continue to pray. We serve a great God and know that He hears our prayers.

We love you all!!!

WOW! That is such great news! So glad to hear that. Prayers are being answered. And Dose, you are one tough Dude. You’re my hero!! (After John Wayne and my Dad, of course. But hey, that’s pretty good company). That’s a nice picture of you and Roger too. Love, Love the “Shoot Straight” hat and “NRA” t-shirt too! When you’re feelin’ better, we all need to get together and break-out the AR’s, and bust-up some targets. Keep up the good fight Brother, and we’ll keep prayin’ for ya. Love you guys.

Robin and I are so appreciative that Donnie saved his “crazy” side for our shift!!!  Glad the “normal” Donnie Mac is back!  (Wait…IS there a NORMAL Donnie?!!!!)  xoxox  W & R
