What a wonderful day!

We left the hospital on Tuesday afternoon, went to the oncology clinic to get chemo, and then came home.  It was a very, very long day.  We were all exhausted (Donnie, his sweet Momma and me).  Today, Wednesday morning, Donnie woke up with no nausea at all.  For breakfast, he ate oatmeal, toast, watermelon and a little coffee.  After that, the 3 of us took a 1/2 mile walk. THAT’S RIGHT, we took a walk, because he felt like it (a first in the last 6 weeks).

For lunch we cooked him baked chicken, rice pilaf, yellow squash, butter beans, whole kernel corn and cornbread.  He ate a plate full, and he said, “This tastes good.”  That’s the first time he has said that in 6 weeks, too.  After lunch he took a good nap.

At 5 pm, I came home from a bicycle ride.  He said he was hungry and wanted something to eat.  Oh my . . . he has not been hungry in 6 weeks . . . he has just been eating because he NEEDED to.  So, we fed him homemade garbanzo bean soup (from the hands of Momma!) and more cornbread.  He ate an entire bowl full.  He walked another 0.6 miles with his Momma after dinner, while I went to praise team practice.

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!  What a wonderful day.  All of that, and only one dose of anti-nausea medication all day.  We are prayerful this is the “turn around” we have been waiting so painfully for.

We cannot thank our prayer warriors enough for all the prayers prayed on Donnie’s behalf.  We cannot thank God enough for the blessings he has given to us through this journey.  We are so grateful for our wonderful doctors, PA’s, nurses, pharmacists, etc., who are part of our support team during the rough times and the good times.  We continue to trust in God through it all.  You are beside us Lord, and give us strength when we are weak.  Blessed be the name of the Lord!

Love,  Donnie & Tina
