It was a very good week for Donnie. We were visited by my first cousin Joe Slaughter and his wife Martha from Phoenix, AZ. They are so craaaazzzzzy, they actually flew here from Phoenix as a surprise just to take us to eat dinner on Monday. We really enjoyed their visit. They are definitely the over-achievers in the dinner department!!!! You’d have to know them to realize, “this is how they roll” 🙂
We got to crash Mark and Patty Vargo’s wedding anniversary (they called us for breakfast while they were here in Orlando), which was a treat!! They have been married 33 years. So special!! Of course, we always enjoy Donnie’s Mom visiting, and this time Aunt Eva Dell (her baby sister) brought her to Orlando for us.

Besides feeling loved from visits, phone calls, beautiful flower arrangements, and scrumptuous food (scheduled and unscheduled!), our week was topped off by going to Jacksonville Beach to the Ashes Tea Room, where Kaia (our granddaughter) had her 5th birthday party with 3 of her best friends (all dressed up). It was precious!!! Her Mommie told her that “boys really don’t go to tea’s,” but she asked if her Daddy and her Pa (Donnie) could please come. We were so thankful that Donnie could make the car ride (a FIRST since his diagnosis), and that he really enjoyed spending time with Kaia. She is a doll, and they have a special relationship!

Donnie will be singing at church in the morning again. He continues to gain weight, eat well, and have no nausea and pain. These tangible blessings are so wonderful!!!!!!! Thank you, Lord!
Donnie continues to be quite tired most of the time (he is awake and doing well for about 4 hours a day), so please pray for renewed strength, just for normal daily activities. He misses his work life and his work buddies terribly. It’s part of who he is (we all understand). Thank you for your prayers to our God, the great healer and maker of the universe. Love, Donnie & Tina

Man, that is such great news!! And I can tell Kaia was tickled to have her Daddy and Pa at her party. But Donnie, I gotta tell ya dude. She pulled off the look wearing your pretty well!! She was stylin’. But you with her hat on, ehh not so much. We don’t love you any less for it though, jus sayin’. I’m sure she got a kick out of it. Plus, she can use that pic to blackmail you for candy money for years to come. She may even get a corvette out of it one day!
