Okay, for all you “blog junkies,” I wanted you to know that Donnie had a very good weekend 🙂 He continues to eat very well (normal amounts of food for him which is a big praise to the Lord), he has NO nausea or pain (thank you Lord), his hair continues to grow, and he is gaining weight (except his booty seems to be missing!!! His words!!!).
He continues to need a lot of rest (chemo makes you really tired). Sunday, Donnie was able to sing with the praise team at our church, WaterStone Fellowship. That meant so much to Donnie, as praising the Lord in song has been a big part of his life. It was simply uplifting for him to be in the house of the Lord singing praises to the God who is holding Donnie in His hands through this journey. Beau (our oldest son) also sang with the praise team, and David (our youngest son) played the drums. It was a special day to be with our church family. Sorry no pics, as I play the keyboard. Sometimes special moments require no pictures.
Ronnie was with us at church, and we had the privilege of going to the altar to pray together (all of our family that was there went forward together). What a special moment to be able to THANK GOD for the mighty healing going on in Donnie’s life.
We are truly so grateful for all our friends and family praying for Donnie, bringing amazing delicious food, sending cards, bringing flowers, visiting, calling, etc. It is a humbling and loving experience. Every day there is slight improvement in him. He does not have any of the bad side effects of his chemo (neuropathy especially), and we are grateful for that. This week he gets a break from his chemo. YAY!!! Hopefully that will bring with it an increase in energy and awake time.
Again, if I don’t blog for a while, you can rest assured it is good news. I wanted to share a picture that Jeff (our son in St. Augustine) sent this morning . . . always the encourager to his Daddy, and sending much love!!!!
