Just a quick update on Donnie for April 23, 2015:
As you know Donnie wanted to wean his morphine ER to 15 mg twice a day. That has been successful for a week now. He has no pain. What a praise!! He continues to be agitated (opiate withdrawal symptom), and his legs move almost constantly while he is awake. It is fairly exhausting and irritating to him. Xanax takes the edge off at night, which helps him some.
He also weaned ONE of his anti-nausea medications in half. Since we were not successful with weaning all of it off 2 weeks ago, with the blessing of Dr. Z’s PA (physician’s assistant), we weaned his Benedryl from 50 mg once a day to 25 mg once a day. So far, so good.
Today Donnie has his CT scan of his chest, abdomen and pelvis. We will not know results or Dr. Z’s plan of care until May 5. We will keep you posted.
Due to weaning of Donnie’s medications, and continued physical improvement, Donnie was awake the entire day yesterday. He was awake from 9 am until midnight, without even a nap. WOW!!!!!! That is a FIRST since his diagnosis in December. Just a few days ago, he was only awake for approximately 5 hours a day. What an improvement. He even said to me that he is bored. Uh oh . . . I see evening walks in his future to help improve his stamina, and help him sleep better at night. Isn’t it a miracle that Donnie continues to improve?! We are overwhelmed by the blessings God has given us, and cherish this good time Donnie has with all of us.
Please pray for Donnie’s withdrawal symptoms to subside. They are quite challenging for him. Continue to pray for no pain and no nausea, and we praise God for his continued relief from pain and nausea.

As soon as we know Donnie’s plan of care moving forward, we will let you know. Thank you all for praying for us! What a difference you have made in our lives!
Giving all the glory to God for sure!
Love, Donnie & Tina

Great news!
Your Pie Night friend, John Painter, heard Donnie sing on Easter & requested a copy of “I Will Rise” for his cancer-stricken sister. He replied: “Listening to the recording brought tears to my eyes. God is using Donnie’s illness in powerful ways. I sent it on to my brother-in-law, John Crews. I am sure he will share it with my sister, Suzanne, when the time is right.”
Thanks, John
