Walking in the evenings and riding bikes

Donnie’s week started off great seeing one of his “fav’s” from the ICU, Becky, and her husband Saagar.  It was great to see them and catch up a bit.  Donnie misses all the WONDERFUL people he was close to and worked with at Florida Hospital East, and sends his love to you all!!

Donnie continues to have no pain and no nausea.  He continues to be taking only 15 mg of extended release morphine twice a day.  He will start weaning another one of his anti-nausea medications tonight.  He does continue to be anxious and agitated due to opiate withdrawal (although it is a little better), and is taking medications to help with that.

We are trying to walk 20-30 minutes each evening, and alternate riding bikes when he has the energy.  He is doing really well.  He is also eating GREAT, which makes me very happy.  His color continues to improve.  Poor guy, he does have WICKED hot flashes from his chemo.  I mean . . . sweating and dripping!!!!  Of course, I feel great empathy for him on that one 🙂

Ronnie (twin) and Darlene came by this weekend on their way home from their vacation in Charleston.  Donnie loves it when his family is with him.  Relaxation is part of the agenda, as you can see!  (Ronnie’s head wrapped with an ice pack to fight off a headache.)

Trust me ... LOTS of snoring going on!!

Also, Donnie had his hair on his head “tightened up” as Denise (his hairdresser) calls it.  I must say he looks better without the crazy long curly hairs doing whatever they want to on his head!!  He’s still pretty handsome to me!

Please pray that he will be able to continue to wean medications.  He is really doing well so far.  The less medications, the less side effects, and the easier it is on his liver and kidneys that have to filter these drugs (on top of his chemo).  He will have labs tomorrow to assure that his cell counts (especially his white cells) are on the rise.  Thank you for your faithful prayers.  Donnie is a living testimony that God hears our prayers and answers them.

Much love,  Donnie & Tina
