Donnie went for his clinic visit today (Friday), and praise the Lord, it wasn’t a catastrophe like it was on Wednesday. We did a lot of “preventative” steps so he would not get so deathly ill. Even though the round trip takes us 3 hours, and it does exhaust him, it was much better today. He agreed.
He finished his last Neupogen shot today (the medication that boosts his immune system). A praise is that his while blood cell count never dropped below normal. Unfortunately, one of the side effects of this medication is that it gives him flu-like symptoms. So…on top of his first round of chemo, he sort of gets the flu. No wonder he doesn’t want to hold his eyes open. He will see Dr. Z on Tuesday, and we will keep you posted on the plan of care.

Tomorrow is our family Christmas. We are very excited to have all our grown babies and our grandbabies together! It is always very special. We are having professional pictures taken at our home this year, so we are all looking forward to that. So hard to get all of us together. It will certainly be special!!! Pray that Donnie can have some energy to enjoy his babies (he’s pretty weak). Thank you for all your love and prayers!!!!!!!!!!

Dear Mr. Donnie (The Jolly Rancher Man),
I will always remember our acorn fights outside in the parking lot of my dad’s office space…you always took the time to play with us and we always knew you would have jolly ranchers too! Thank you for the role that you have played in my life and for being there for our family when our parents began their business. Knowing we always had a friend next door to play with made growing up at the office fun!
I recall going to dinner with you and Mrs. Tina a few years ago when I was still looking for what I should do with my life. I am very blessed to say that I have now found the Lord’s calling upon my life by working in senior long term care in an Alzheimer’s community. I am now living in East Tennessee and finishing up my masters in business administration at Carson-Newman University. I plan to graduate this May and finish my assisted living administration license. (Mom and Dad are hoping for me to return closer to home!)
I am praying for you and your family during this difficult time. Thank you for having acorn fights and teaching me how to love God with all of my heart.
Love,
Miriam (fountain head) Wilson
