It was an amazing day of prayer for Donnie, from the elders of our church praying with us at 5:30 am, the chaplain in the pre-op area praying with us, the family and friends in the waiting area praying collectively as a group several times during the day, and even group prayers with our family led by new aquaintances in the waiting area . . . it was pretty wonderful!
Donnie’s surgery went very well today. The suspicious areas in his abdomen were biopsied and showed no sign of cancer, so as planned, Dr. de la Fuente continued to remove the affected tail of the pancreas and the enlarged spleen laparoscopically. Some biopsies are still pending, and will take a few days for results. We are praising God for this opportunity for surgery that we did not have last December (it was not an option then)!!
Dr. Zehngebot, Donnie’s oncologist, was notified of the findings and the surgery. There were some other areas of concern noted by the surgeon during the procedure. The new plan of action from Dr. Z is not yet known, but I will keep you informed so you can pray for Donnie.
It was a big surgery. He is in his room now in the Ginsburg Tower (or the Taj mahal as I like to call it!), in lots of pain. He has a PCA pump, along with an NG tube, and needs lots of quiet time to rest and heal. Please no visitors. I know you understand.
We will be staying with Donnie around the clock, which gives all of us lots of comfort. Dr. de la Fuente said to expect Donnie to be in the hospital for about 7 days. I am grateful that Beau (our oldest) will be staying with him at night, so I can stay with him during the day. What a blessing!!
Please pray for pain control, no complications from surgery, and rapid healing. We are so grateful to God for the improvements in Donnie’s health since January. We continue to pray for healing, and for God’s will regarding his health and his life.
Love, Donnie & Tina

Wow !! I've got only 3 words for the amount of people who were there to show support for Donnie, UH-MA-ZING. That says a lot about the kind of people you are. And also the kind of friends you have. So good to hear that the surgery went so well. As always, constantly praying for you both. Lots of love, Bubba and Tracey
