As you can see, I have not been blogging as frequently, because Donnie continues to have good days. If I don’t blog, don’t worry, because he is doing well, and I am enjoying him instead of blogging 🙂
He continues to improve in the slightest but significant ways. Today was especially encouraging for the following reasons: 1) Donnie woke up at 3:30 am hungry (that NEVER happens), and ate a bowl of cereal; 2) Donnie got hungry at 5:30 am and ate another bowl of cereal (eating close together never happens either); and 3) Donnie got hungry at 7:30 am, and ate a bowl of oatmeal. So . . . thanks for praying for a better appetite, as that prayer is being answered in a mighty way.
At 8 am, Donnie and I were off to the BMW dealership to meet with my “genius.” Yep . . . that’s what they call him! He told me about more bells and whistles on my car. What a wonderful machine! I had the BEST looking car on the lot . . . REALLY!! Donnie was hungry again, so he got a powdered donut from the dealership. Then, off to Olive Garden for salad and a meal. He ate a large lunch (much more than me), and was “ooing and aweing” about how good the food was (that hasn’t happened in a very long time either). His color is so good today, and he is singing and whistling . . .
Over the past few days, very special people have come to see us. Donnie’s Mom (Joyce) and her sisters Jewel and Eva Dell came for an afternoon. I should have taken a picture of Donnie with his head in his Momma’s lap, while she rubbed his head. He is SPOILED!!! He loves her so much! They are cute together. Here is the motley crew now:

The next morning we had breakfast with our dear friends Michael and Diana Bryan. Such a great morning catching up on our families!!

We also got an awesome meal on Thursday night of turkey (with awesome turkey gravy), mashed potatoes and green beans from Ann and Bob Babbington, and that was the beginning of the eating frenzy. Donnie ate 2 pretty normal sized plates of food (note I said TWO), which is also a first since his diagnosis. What a great KICK OFF for eating better!
We have cut back a little on his medications (cautiously), and he continues to have no nausea or pain. Even his silver hair is growing back a little. Man . . . I have to say all this does feel like a miracle! Even if it is a miracle for 2 weeks . . . WE’LL TAKE IT! What a blessing to have him be able to enjoy family and friends, even if it is for short periods of time.
His attitude remains positive and realistic. He loves the Lord, and is fine with the plan God has for his life. I know it uplifts his spirits to see the people he cares about (and vice versa), and that helps his physical state improve. We try to keep him with a balance of visiting some, and resting a lot. We really can’t thank everyone enough for all the love and caring you have shown to us. We are honored and blessed by you all caring enough to pray for us and love on us in so many ways.
Please continue to pray for improved appetite, weight gain, strength, and healing. We are so grateful for answered prayer!! God is able!!!!!
