Still “Fighting Like a MAC” through the tough days

Getting chemo is pretty tough on your body.  Especially after you are reeling from lots of pain.  This has been a pretty tough week for Donnie.  He sleeps a lot, just to get past the big waves of nausea while he is awake.  His pain management is all over the place, some days taking more Dilaudid, and some days taking none. We are grateful for the days he doesn’t need extra pain meds for sure!

Yesterday he ate very little, simply due to nausea.  He is a great patient, because he tries to eat, even when he feels crummy, simply because he knows he needs to do that to improve.  Today was a much better day, with him eating a little breakfast and a little lunch so far.  He also sat up about 1/3rd of the day, which is better than him being in the bed all day and night in the dark to try to stay calm and not get sick.

If you remember when he was first diagnosed in December, he spent 17 days in the hospital, went home very, very ill from nausea, and was re-admitted to the hospital simply to get his nausea under control.  So, with that said, this time he is much better controlled, and we are hopeful to keep him home this time, where he can get rest, and eat good home cooked food.

Please pray for continued improvement in nausea control and pain control, and pray for him to have an appetite.  We have lots of medications, herbs and remedies working to give him some help in those areas, not to mention the power of prayer and the love of family and friends.  Trust me, it is all so important!

We continue to live each day as it comes, not worry about tomorrow, and trust in God.  We both feel so blessed through this journey . . . not that you would choose to have such challenges in this life, but truly, Donnie has seen so much love showered on him, it is a wonderful experience most people might not get to see in their lifetime.  We appreciate and love you all.

Love,  D MAC & T MAC

Thanks for the update on Donnie. We are praying for a better appetite ( wish I could give him mine!!), pain relief and relief from the nausea. So thankful he has you and his wonderful family there for him.
