The second round of chemo has begun

Yesterday (Friday), Donnie started his second round of chemo.  He has had no nausea for 24 days now (praise be to GOD!!!).  By the scale at the clinic, he has gained 10 pounds, which put him at 164 pounds (WHOOT WHOOT!!).  Of course, we are always on alert as to how chemo will affect him.  He did have some break through pain that required extra pain meds last night (after his chemo), but today he has not had to take any extra pain meds, so that is a praise, too.

He continues to have very special people visit him.  On Thursday, Ron Coram, a long time friend from his childhood came to see him, and they had a personal visit.  It was special!  We love the evangelists and preachers and pastors in our lives.  We are so blessed!  Of course, our visit ended with a special prayer.  Much love to you Ron and your family from both of us!

Then, Hope Wilson, who Donnie fondly calls “Hopefully” (he sings her name like “Faithfully” by Journey), brought us our favorite chinese food for lunch from 3-6-9 Restaurant.  She is a very, very special positive person that Donnie adores, and I love her, too!  So great to see people that mean so much to you when you are trying  improve! Great food is just the bonus on that one 🙂

Jeff Nelson came over to install a new attic ladder for us, since ours was on its last leg.  We are so appreciative for Jeff’s skills, but more so for the love he shows us.  What a great guy! . . . and the ladder works great, too.  We did miss you, Josh!!

Then dinner was delivered by dear friends Bill and Kim Carthen.  Deeeeeee-licious!!  So many good cooks in our lives . . . we feel so undeserving, and at the same time, appreciate it so much!  It makes my life so much better, as caregiving and concern can sap your energy.

So today is Saturday, and Ronnie and Darlene are here for the weekend with us.  It is a special day today . . . the day they adopted Maegan 25 years ago (Donnie went with them that day to take pictures and witness the big event!!!).  Maegan wanted a few special pics with her Daddy and Uncle Donnie today, “the two greatest men in her life” (her words)!  It was fun taking pics today, as Donnie is feeling like cutting up a little.  That made the pics very special!

Yes, Donnie’s hair is growing back, as silver as ever I might add.

Keep praying for God’s will in Donnie’s life, relief from pain and nausea, and an improving quality of life for him.  All those things are happening right now, so obviously it is God’s will.  Prayer is so powerful!!
