Yay! Nausea abated!

For the first time in weeks, Donnie is not nauseated at all.  Wow.  I must say that is amazing.  Dr. Z gave Donnie an IV cocktail of Benedryl, Decadron and Reglan, and that was the ticket!!  When I came in to see him this morning (Beau stayed with him last night), he was perky (haven’t seen that in a month), and flirting with me.  HE’S BACK!  Dr. Z cracked us up when he said, “He looks like a new person this morning . . . just add water.”  Hahahaha

Dr. Z said due to the nausea being controlled, he wants to give him his chemo today.  We are glad to be in the hospital while he is receiving it, to be able to address any side effects that might arise.  It is just nice to get IV medications when you have side effects, so they take effect quickly.  He is also getting IV fluids for hydration, which gives him some energy.  He also ate a pretty good breakfast (for him these days).  I’ll take it!

The results of the CT scan are not back yet.  Poor Beau, nicknamed Nurse Rachet by Donnie, had to get Donnie to drink the contrast late last night.  The CT was done at 4 am.  We will probably hear about the results on Friday.  Hoping if everything goes ok with chemo, we will go home on Friday.  Too early to tell.  As you can tell, Donnie is “rollercoaster man.”  Like Forest Gump said, “Life is a box of chocolates … you never know what you’re gonna get.”  That’s Donnie this last month.

So thankful to Wendy who stayed with me the last few days.  She’s so loving to Donnie and to me.  So grateful for wonderful, wonderful (did I say wonderful?) family!!

I will keep you posted about his progress with the chemo, and when he is going home.  Unless things change when he gets chemo, you can visit.  Can you tell I am upbeat today?  He is whistling to “Don’t worry, be happy” while I am blogging this morning.  It’s so good to see him like this.  So relieved for him.  Even if it is for a few hours!

He has really been missing all his buddies from work and from church!  Thank you for all your prayers to our God, the maker of the universe, and comfort in our time of need.  We cherish you all!!

Love, Donnie & Tina

Hi Tina and Donnie, Prayers your way. So glad to hear that the nausea has subsided. It sounds like you are doing better. So glad you are in such a wonderful place(FHO). We would love to come see you both but have had the flu, sore throats and ears. You do not need anyone around you that is not well. So we will put off our visit until we are better. Mostly sinus but still would not want to take a chance. You have enough to deal with. Love and prayers your way. God Bless

Hi Tina, a few of us from work would love to come see Donnie tomorrow night after work. Let us know how he’s doing tomorrow and if that would be okay with him.

Absolutely wonderful to hear that Donnie has a bit of an appetite back and that you are savoring each smile and laugh that comes your way!  As if you didn’t know, medicine is not exact science!  I’m glad Dr. Z was able to create a good cocktail for Donnie!  What a difference it can make.  Hope the chemo goes/went well today.  Continued pray and love is being sent your way!
