A good day

Donnie continues to battle nausea daily.  It’s not all the time, but it might hit him in the afternoon and last until he goes to bed.  He is able to eat some during that time, but not very much.  Please pray for his nausea to GO AWAY completely.

Yesterday he was actually wanting to get out of the house.  That is a first in a long time.  We went to Longhorn Steakhouse in Waterford Lakes to get his favorite meal:  Salmon.  He said it tasted ok, but not DELICIOUS like it usually does.  This is due to chemo changing his taste buds.  He did enjoy eating out with me 🙂

After that, he wanted to go to Best Buy with me.  I had a return, and he wanted to shop.  He even went to the back of the store to shop by himself while I made the return.  Of course, Best Buy is his “heaven on earth,” with all the electronics and sound equipment.  It was good for him to get out and see a little bit of the world.

Then off to Ace Hardware to pick up an extension cord . . . another place he likes to go . . . so he went in with me.  He did quite a bit of walking, which he has not done for months.  After that, we went home and he was exhausted, and just slightly nauseated.  He rested on the couch for the rest of the evening, and ate some more greens (grown with love from my 89 year old Dad’s garden and cooked by him!!) and cornbread for dinner.

We are so happy he still has good days, good times, good moments, and an amazingly good attitude.  Donnie has such a strong inner peace and conviction.  He does not complain about his circumstances.  It has been a challenging year of ups and downs for him, and lots and lots of endurance.  He is certainly fighting the good fight!!  . . . and all of you have helped to pray him to this point.  God has been so good to answer our prayers on Donnie’s behalf, and we both are forever grateful.

The other day, our oldest grandchild, Brianna, told Pa (Donnie):  “Pa, I pray for you every night.  I pray for you to get hair on your head (patting the top of her head), hair on your arms (rubbing her arms), and for you to get strong again (flexing her arms like a strong man)!!”  She had the cutest smile on her face while she told him.  Donnie laughed, and it made his day.  Out of the mouth of babes . . . priceless.

We are planning to be with our families through the Christmas holiday, and pray that Donnie will be able to enjoy that togetherness.  We pray that all of you will be able to do the same.  Thank you ALWAYS for your precious prayers.

Love,  Donnie & Tina
