Tumor markers down to 14

As you may remember,  Donnie is getting his chemo every other week now.  Dr. Z ran tumor markers (from Donnie’s blood) on Tuesday.  Our PA, Rochelle, called today to let us know the markers are down to 14.  She is such a doll to keep us informed so quickly!  A month ago his tumor markers were 35.  Normal is between 0-35.  This is really wonderful news, as we have cut back on his chemo to give him some relief from the rough side effects.  Donnie is scheduled to have a follow up abdominal CT scan on December 21.  It’s all a part of putting the whole picture together for him.

PanCan, the society that raises awareness and research dollars for pancreatic cancer, had a “run” in Orlando last month.  Rochelle, our PA, ran for Donnie, and Dr. Z rode his bike.  THEY ARE AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

After chemo Tuesday, Donnie was only a tad “icky” (nauseated), and came home and slept for 2.5 hours.  Then woke up and ate a bowl of collard greens (from Dad’s garden and cooked by him) over cornbread with a dollop of mayonnaise!!!  Now that’s what I call HEALTH FOOD!!!  Wednesday he ate 3 meals.  Today he is eating pretty good, even though he is very tired (he is typically very tired for 2 to 3 days after chemo).  I would say this has been a better few days for him, and we attribute it to love and prayers.

Thank you for your precious prayers!  We continue to have our hope in the Lord, and whatever He has in store for us is GREAT.  At this wonderful time of year, when we celebrate the birth of the risen savior, Jesus Christ, we are reminded of the AMAZING love He has for every single one of us, and are grateful to be a part of the family of God.  May God give special blessings to all of you who have unselfishly and steadfastly prayed for us.

Love,  Donnie & Tina
