Chemo #2 of 3 today

Today started out rough . . . a terrible headache . . . the kind that takes you to the emergency room.  We don’t really know why, but steroids and hydrocodone were the answer, along with 2 ice packs and lots of head rubbing by a “very special wife.”  After another 3 hours of sleep, his headache was almost gone.  We got up to go to the clinic for chemo at 11 am.  Beau always accompanies us for support.

Donnie’s weight is up to 165 pounds on the clinic scale . . . the one that counts.  We keep pumping the gravy to him 🙂  His blood work is great, which is a big praise!  He does not need any medications to improve his white or red blood cell counts.  YAY!  Chemo seems to have no adverse effects on him so far.  That is also wonderful!  Thanks for all the prayers . . . they are being answered.

They drew blood to evaluate cancer markers on Donnie today.  We will find the results out next week when Donnie returns for his chemo.  Last time his cancer markers had dropped from 558 to 218 (this is what they want), so we are awaiting the latest results for comparison.

We continue to feel loved by our friends and family in many ways.  Special family continues to visit us from near and far, which is very special to us (love to you Ron Fritz and Carol, coming to see us from Michigan)!!  Also, the food that everyone makes for us is SO APPRECIATED.  I think it helps us emotionally as well as physically.

Today was extra special, as we went to eat at Outback for dinner.  This is something we like to do, but Donnie has not felt like getting out much in the evening.  We were able to go early, and Maegan (our niece) was working.  After we had a wonderful meal, we were told by our waiter that someone picked up our tab.  We were blown away!!  Then we found out that Kevan (the shift manager) and Maegan had covered our tab.  WOW!!!  We already thought the world of both of them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  They made our day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

After dinner, we went to visit my Dad, and his precious dog Lady (she’s a Jack Russell, but she thinks she’s a “people”).  She was crying, twirling around, whining, jumping, and otherwise acting like a nut job when she saw Donnie.  She seems to really love him, and has not seen him for months . . . a sweet reunion.

Jeff (our son) is with us tonight, which is always a treat!!  We were shown lots of wonderful video and pictures of our beautiful grandbabies Kaia and Liam!  So special for all of us 🙂  They are so stinkin’ cute!!!!!!!!!!!  No . . . I mean it!!!!!!

If no big changes are happening with Donnie, I will blog less.  I promise I will keep you up-to-date if there are any changes or if any special or specific prayers are needed.  Much love, Donnie & Tina
