Small improvements seen each day

Donnie has weaned down to 30 mg ER morphine twice a day without any headaches or side effects, and most importantly, no change in his pain.  Again, the chemo is working, as his pain level and the amount of pain medication he was taking on September 1 was the most he had ever taken in this journey.

Also, his appetite is improving slowly, eating a little more, and eating more frequently.  He is asking to eat, which is another improvement.  He is still receiving his IV fluids every day, which keeps him hydrated, and flushes the toxins out of his body.  His weight has held steady this week at 156 pounds.

He got up on Thursday morning and said, “I feel better today than I have in a long time.”  He ate well that day, and was awake most of the day.  It was a significant improvement.  I shaved his head that day, as his hair was falling out in clumps, which is very irritating when you are trying to sleep.  He said it is like his hair is attached to his head with post-it note adhesive, and just comes out in your hands.  He’s still makes me laugh!

Friday was just an “okay day”.  He was very tired, and did not eat as well.  He slept most of the day that day.  So, as you can see, the rollercoaster continues.

God bless all of you for praying for Donnie.  We are grateful for precious prayers, wonderful family, and amazing friends.  We are thankful to God for the people that are a part of our lives.

Love,  Donnie & Tina
