Still working on solutions to nausea

Donnie had a very good day Tuesday, so Wednesday morning the docs switched his anti-nausea meds from IV to oral.  After his first dose of oral medications at 10 am, he was nauseated in 30 minutes.  I’m talking about the kind of nausea where you close your eyes, hang your head, and don’t move for fear of vomiting. We were walking the halls of the hospital together when the nausea hit him, and he had to sit down for 20 minutes, then be taken back to his room in a wheelchair.  Then it took him 10 minutes to collect himself to get from the wheelchair back into his bed.  He was so disappointed, and I was disappointed right along with him.  So, he was immediately put back on his medications by IV.

By 3 pm, he was recovering from nausea (so he missed lunch totally).  He ate a good dinner, and had no nausea.  Today we will attempt to get Donnie back on oral medications one at a time.  He takes 3 medications for nausea . . . his nausea “cocktail.”  Dr. Z said he is in no hurry to get Donnie out of there.  To be honest, at least the staff got to see how badly the nausea affects him, and that he desperately needs solutions to this issue.  He continues on TPN, which makes me very, very happy, as he is getting nutrition while they try to figure out his nausea meds.

He was in good spirits when I left him last night, and had no nausea.  Please keep praying for solutions to his nausea, improved nutrition and strength.  We are very, very grateful for your prayers on his behalf and mine.  We are certainly uplifted by your prayers and kind words!

Love,  Tina

Donnie and Tina,

Always praying!  So happy that at least the IV anti-nausea has worked and praying for smoother weening to the oral meds!

Love you guys!

Praying for y'all. Hopefully they can find the right mix of meds to help with the nausea. Y'all gave such a great support team and family. Continue to keep y'all in our thoughts.
